ABOUT US

Since 1905, YWCA Kitchener-Waterloo has provided essential programs for women and children. Today, we provide programs in the areas of childcare, youth recreation, emergency and supportive housing for women, and prison-based counseling, speaking out on issues that affect women and families.

YWCA Kitchener-Waterloo is a community-based, charitable organization and are governed by a 15 member volunteer Board of Directors. We are a member association of YWCA Canada, the largest women's multi-service organization in Canada.

Our annual operating budget is approximately $4.2 million dollars. Revenue sources include program (60%), grants (24%), United Way (7%), donations and special events (6%) and investment income (3%). Expenses include salaries and benefits (76%), occupancy costs (13%), program costs (6%), office and administration (3%).

YWCA Kitchener-Waterloo has approximately 150 staff. Most, 65%, work in our Children's Services Department. 25% work in our Women's Services Department and 10% work in support departments including Administration, Finance, Philanthropy, Human Resources and Communications.
