Early Learning & Childcare

YWCA Kitchener-Waterloo Childcare Programs are licensed by the Ministry of Education and adhere to all the regulations and standards set out in the Childcare and Early Years Act. YWCA Kitchener-Waterloo also participates in Raising the Bar on Quality, a community standards program for licensed care to promote healthy childcare environments and support professional development.

We offer a range of care, from infant to school age. Reflective educators analyse how children in their program think, learn, and make sense of their world. They know what children are currently capable of doing and which next steps are possible. Responsive educators help to focus children’s observations, use language that describes events, and ask questions that provoke a child’s thinking.

Educators communicate to parents about what they are doing and why they are doing it. They articulate how play experiences promote learning and optimal development. Educators know and respect that parents and families remain the experts on their own children.
