COMMUNITY RESOURCES PUBLIC EDUCATION INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PUBLIC EDUCATION EVENTS Week Without Violence
The 2011 Power of Being a Girl Conference was held Monday, October 17 at Bingeman's Conference Centre. The keynote addresses were given by Olympian Valerie Hould-Marchand and author/activist Mariatu Kamara. Over 150 students and teachers from across Waterloo and Wellington Region participated in a variety of workshops designed to raise girls self-esteem and leadership skills. 2010 In celebration of World YWCA Day, YWCA Kitchener Waterloo hosted a breakfast followed by a presentation by Sonia Lenares, General Secretary of YWCA Belize. She discussed the social and economic impact of educating girls, specifically the YWCA Belize Helping Early School Leaver's Program. For YouTube links to her presentation please see below.
2009 On April 24, 2009 we hosted out 3rd Annual World YWCA Breakfast. The keynote address was given by Galina Tsiuryna, General Secretary of La Strada International, a program of YWCA Belarus. She discussed the Global Impact of Human Trafficking. Below are links to video of her presentation.

The Social Action and Advocacy Committee is composed of members of YWCA Kitchener-Waterloo, YWCA Cambridge, and other concerned agencies. Its mandate is to provide information and promote discussion on issues of concern to women.
