EMERGENCY SHELTER
|
Mary's Place is YWCA Kitchener-Waterloo's 60-bed emergency shelter for women (16 and older), transgendered people, and families who are homeless. Parents of either gender with children who are homeless are welcome to stay at Mary's Place.
|
Homelessness is the only criterion for residence.
Mary's Place provides
- basic necessities, including shelter, food, clothing, and toiletries.
- 24 hour, 7 days per week, on-site staffing for crisis intervention.
Mary's Place partners with other agencies to provide further support for residents.
In 2006, YWCA Kitchener-Waterloo undertook an extensive renovation of Mary's Place. Today, each new, self-contained suite can house either single women or a family. The shelter is also wheelchair accessible.
For emergency housing, call 519-744-0120.
Mary's Place Wish List
YWCA Mary's Place has always provided support to single women needing housing and to female led families since the mid 1990's. Due to extensive renovations over the past three years, we are now able to house all families who need temporary shelter including female/male single parents, two parent families and teenage boys living here.
All items that are not used immediately support our programs and services during the year. Each resident gets a gift on their birthday and each child coming into the shelter gets a stuffed animal.
We appreciate receiving the following items (in no particular order)
pillows
single bed sheets, blankets
towels, face cloths
dishes, cutlery and mugs
new PJ's, underwear slippers and socks in various male and female sizes
